Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and well-regarded Transportation Geotechnical Client/Program manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our overall NCDOT client relationship including work with prime design firms as well as directly for NCDOT.
Responsibilities:
- Scope, manage, and review deliverables for NCDOT projects for a variety of clients
- Interface with NCDOT Geotechnical Engineering Unit (GEU) to help manage On-call Limited Service Contract (LSC)
- Budget, manage, and close-out projects to stay on schedule and on budget while maintaining technical quality
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with assistance from other project managers, engineers, and scientists for overall programmatic success
- Track and respond to changes in NCDOT policy, specifications, design methodologies, software implementation, etc.
- Maintain and establish internal standards for technical workflow, delivery, documentation, etc.
- Manage existing client relations and interface with internal marketing/business development staff
- Independently identifying and procuring new clients is not expected but is appreciated
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or related engineering field, or Geology/Earth Sciences or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Professional Geologist (PG) license required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and investigations
- Considerable experience with NCDOT required
- Project Management experience required
- Strong familiarity with NCDOT Geotechnical Guidelines and delivery methods required
- Understanding of roadway, retaining wall, bridge, culvert, noise wall, and temporary shoring investigation and design principles
- Understanding of NCDOT Project Delivery Network and familiarity with interdisciplinary coordination needs
- Proficiency in geotechnical software and tools
- Possess “soft-skills” enabling successful client and project management
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to independently manage client relationships
- Ability to independently manage project finances through scoping, contract negotiations, execution, and follow-up/support
