Falcon’s Environmental Services Manager, Christopher Burkhardt, PWS, who serves as the Workshop Coordinator for the North Carolina Association of Environmental Professionals, recently organized registration and logistics for the Rare Plant & Natural Communities Workshop in Uwharrie National Forest. This full-day field trip was led by the North Carolina Heritage (NHP) and focused on identifying and understanding the habitats of the state-protected Georgia aster and federally listed Schweinitz’s sunflower. Participants also had the chance to observe several rare yellow pitcher plants and unique natural communities and wetland ecosystems. Along with a valuable educational experience, the event raised over $1,500 for the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program! Thank you NHP for all you do!
