Project Description
Falcon provided construction engineering testing and inspection for portions of the Triangle Expressway, the first design-build toll road in North Carolina. The project included the construction of a 12.5 mile concrete paved, six-lane divided toll facility with a 78-foot median. An on-site batch plant was erected to facilitate production of the extensive yardage, and an on-site laboratory was set up to expedite compressive and flexural strength testing. Our services included physical testing of Portland cement concrete during mix design verifications, developing maturity curves and performing batch plant aggregate gradations on a daily basis. Falcon also provided batch plant mixer performance evaluations in accordance with NCDOT standards. Falcon personnel provided full-time CEI support services during earthwork operations and pavement section.
